UUSC members, whether players, parents, or coaches, make up our club. All club members must conduct themselves in a way that properly represents the club and honors the game.
Player expectations
- Work hard at practice and in games. We are developing as players and as a team.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship in practices and games, including attitude and language.
- Show respect to coaches, teammates, opposing players, referees, and spectators.
- Communicate with your teammates and your coaches. Soccer is not a silent sport.
- Support your team and be positive toward your teammates.
- Come prepared to practice with a water bottle, shin guards, and proper footwear.
- Pick up after yourself at practice and games.
- Attend practices and games.
Parent expectations
- Thank you for supporting the team by being positive from the sidelines.
- Please do not coach from the sidelines during practice or games.
- Set an example for your child with respect for opposing players, parents, and referees.
- Encourage your child to work on skills and conditioning at home.
- Please do not interrupt practices or games.
- Please call or text if your child can't attend a practice or game. It is essential for planning that the coach knows who will be there.
- Play-Practice-Play is a model that UUSC coaches use at practice. Players will be practicing and learning in game-like situations.
- Please understand that developmental soccer aims to foster a love of the game in all players and teach them skills and strategies for each position.
Role of a coach
- Coaches have a leadership role.
- You are a role model and should set an example for the players within our community.
- For coaches to succeed and for the kids to realize the best the sport has to offer, coaches must adhere to the code of conduct set forth by Umpqua United Soccer Club.
- UUSC believes in fair play within our organization. Fair play can be described as behavior, Good Manners, and Respect.
- Coaches should perform their duties so they reflect their knowledge of the game in a manner that emphasizes good intentions and shows proper respect for the efforts of the players, coaches, and referees.
Spectator rules
- Parents/Spectators are required to sit in the designated "Parent Zone" (refer to the field map).
- Parents/Spectators must sit at least 2 yards (6 feet) from the sideline.
- Parents/Spectators are not allowed to sit behind the goals. All parents are encouraged to sit on the sidelines.
- Parents/Spectators can only sit with the team if registered as a coach, assistant coach, or team manager with UUSC.
- DO NOT ARGUE WITH THE REFEREE. Many of the referees are youth volunteers. Why do we use youth referees? Nobody else has volunteered…. nor do they like to be verbally abused by adults on the sidelines.
