Checking In
Arrive 20–30 minutes prior to your tryout. Each player will be checked in to ensure the proper paperwork (birth certificate, medical release form, etc.) has been submitted to the office staff. Players will be provided a tryout number for the duration of the process. Once a player has received his/her number, they will be directed to the appropriate field space.
We highly encourage parents to stay away from the training space and watch from a distance. The tryout process can be stressful and we want to ensure the players are able to play without any additional stress.
Required Equipment
- Shin guards
- Cleats
- Soccer ball (optional but highly recommended)
- Water bottle (optional but highly recommended)

A signed medical release is required once a year (Fall through Summer) for ALL players to participate in tryouts. This requirement is non-negotiable. Any player without a signed release will not be allowed to tryout. A medical release is available in the office, or you may fill one out on-site prior to tryouts.
A birth certificate or US Passport is required for all (new) competitive players.
Program Information
About Competitive Soccer
Competitive soccer is for focused, motivated players at any skill level, who want to advance their skills through the developmental benefits of a professional coach, and a high volume of soccer through training and competing with and against other focused, motivated, and developed players. Players focus on developing technical, tactical, physical, and psychosocial skills that will help develop them into quality citizens and players.
Spring season dates typically start in mid February or early March depending on the coach. U9/U10 players practice 2 days a week at Fir Grove fields. U11–U14 practice 2–3 days a week, depending on the coach, at Fir Grove fields.
The U9 & U10 competitive team schedules are eight games played over four Saturdays. Each game day is a double header. A typical season is played every other Saturday over a two month period. We travel to Eugene, Albany, Salem, and Bend for games which are primarily played on turf fields. These game days can be super fun — why not make a vacation out of it with the whole family!
The U11, U12, U13 and U14 schedules vary from season to season but typically contain 8 games played on Saturdays and/or Sundays; half home, half away. We travel to Southern Oregon and Northern California.
Please feel free to direct any of your questions to the office by emailing info@umpquaunited.org or calling 541-672-5089.

OYSA League Rules
Mandatory Uniform
There is a mandatory uniform for all UUSC Competitive Players.
Required items
- Grey and Green Academy II Jerseys
- Grey and Green Park Shorts
- Grey and Green Classic Socks
- Black Training Jersey
Please note that the club assigns numbers — your players will need to get that information before purchasing!
Uniforms are on a 2 year cycle. The cycle for our new uniforms is Fall 2026 through Summer of 2028. The club DOES NOT order player uniforms — each player is responsible for ordering their own uniform. Player acceptance is required in order for us to build the teams on Capelli's website so please accept your player's position prior to June 30. You can begin to order player uniforms July 8. Shipping has been taking approximately 5 weeks from date of order. Players without a uniform cannot play so it is IMPORTANT that you order your Uniform Kit no later than July 20!
Uniform Fitting
If you would like to come in to try on uniforms prior to ordering, the clubhouse will be open from 3pm–7pm July 14 & 15. The uniform cycle is 2 years so players will want to select a size that will last.
GOALKEEPER (GK) KITS — These are NOT mandatory. If a player chooses to purchase their own custom GK kit, that will be at the choice of their parents. ALL GK's will wear GK kits during tournament and league play; the club provides a GK jersey to every team.
IF YOU NEED A UNIFORM, PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO INFO@UMPQUAUNITED.ORG
